Product overview
The Humminbird HELIX 15 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N CHO (Head Only) is a Humminbird marine product configured for Marine Navigation & Instruments / GPS - Fishfinder Combos.
Key identifiers: MPN 411320-1CHO, UPC 082324055782, source SKU 85761.
What to know
- 15.4-inch color LCD with 1280 by 800 resolution, the largest in the HELIX lineup
- Control Head Only design: no transducer in the box, lets you build the sonar system you actually want
- MEGA Side Imaging+ at 1075 to 1150 kHz scans 200 feet on each side of the boat
- MEGA Down Imaging+ at 1100 to 1200 kHz for photo-quality straight-down imagery to 200 feet
- Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar with wide and narrow modes, 2.5-inch target separation
- Internal GPS with preloaded Humminbird Basemap covering 10,000+ inland lakes and US coastal waters
- AutoChart Live builds custom contour and bottom-hardness maps in real time as you idle
- Storage for 2,750 waypoints, 47 routes, and 50 tracks with 20,000 track points
What is included
- sonar port without buying a redundant transom transducer. Second, anglers who already run a HELIX or APEX network on the boat can pull sonar from another unit over Ethernet and put the HELIX 15 at a second station. Third, builders who plan to add MEGA 360 Imaging or another accessory transducer separately don't need to throw away the standard transducer that would have come bundled. You build the system you actually want.
- Control head, gimbal bracket, power cable, install hardware (no transducer)

Product questions
What does CHO mean? What's actually in the box?
CHO stands for Control Head Only. The box contains the 15.4-inch HELIX 15 display, the gimbal mounting bracket, the power cable, and the install hardware. There is no transducer in the box. You'll source the transducer separately based on how you want to feed sonar to the unit.
What's the difference between this MSI+ unit and the DI+ variant?
The MSI+ has both MEGA Side Imaging+ and MEGA Down Imaging+ engines built in. The DI+ unit has only Down Imaging. If you want to scan the bottom out to either side of the boat (which is the killer feature for finding fish in big water), get the MSI+. If you only fish straight-down structure or you don't need the side coverage, the DI+ saves money.
Why would I want a CHO model instead of a packaged unit?
Three common reasons. First, you're running a trolling motor with built-in MEGA imaging in the head and don't need a transom transducer at all. Second, you already have a Humminbird Ethernet network on the boat with a transducer feeding sonar to another unit, and you want this HELIX as a second station that pulls from the network. Third, you're planning to add MEGA 360 Imaging or another specialty transducer separately and don't want a redundant standard transducer in the closet.
What sonar does it support?
MEGA Side Imaging+ at 1075 to 1150 kHz, MEGA Down Imaging+ at 1100 to 1200 kHz, and Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar with wide mode (140 to 200 kHz) for searching and narrow mode (180 to 240 kHz) for detail work. The unit also supports MEGA 360 Imaging via the accessory transducer and ActiveTarget-class live sonar from compatible network feeds.
What transducer should I pair with this CHO?
For straight-down and side imaging, the Humminbird MEGA Imaging+ transom transducer is the natural pairing. For trolling motor integration, a compatible One-Boat Network trolling motor head with built-in MEGA Imaging feeds the sonar directly. For thru-hull installs on bigger boats, talk to us about Airmar B175 series options that integrate with the HELIX. The CHO design lets you pick the right transducer for the install instead of being stuck with whatever ships in the package.
Is the screen sunlight readable?
Yes. The HELIX line uses bright LCD panels designed for marine helm use. The 15.4 inches makes the screen easy to read even in glare conditions. Polarized sunglasses sometimes interact with the screen at certain angles, which is a universal LCD issue, not specific to HELIX.
What chart cards work with it?
Premium chart cards including LakeMaster, CoastMaster, and SmartStrike from Humminbird, plus compatible third-party chart cards. The dual microSD slots let you keep a chart card and an AutoChart card loaded at the same time. The internal storage already includes Humminbird Basemap covering more than 10,000 lakes and continental US coastal waters.
Can I network it with another HELIX or an APEX?
Yes. Ethernet networking is built in. You can share sonar, charts, waypoints, routes, and cursor position across multiple HELIX or APEX displays on the same network. Use a 5-port Ethernet switch if you're running more than two units. Cat5e or better cables are required for reliable networking.
