Confirm the electrical foundation
Record the battery-system voltage, available battery space, charger arrangement, and the condition of the existing wiring before choosing a motor. A motor should match an electrical system designed to support it. Do not assume that a boat with a battery compartment is prepared for every voltage or power level.

Measure the bow and the shaft requirement
